Los Alcázares, a spa town, former fishing village on the western side of the Mar Menor, in the autonomous community and province of Murcia, southeast of Spain.
The Mar Menor, this salt lagoon bathes other municipalities: San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar and Cartagena and the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe. Connected to the Mediterranean Sea adjacent to several channels, the Mar Menor has an area of almost 20 km². From 2 to 4 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean, it has a very popular destination for sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing and other water sports.
